TEAM Sports have been chosen to replace the Green Field which was originally constructed in 1993 (over 16 years ago) with their "Aquaturf Evolution" product which is a Wet-Dry 12mm length fibre and is the latest synthetic hockey surface surface (meaning it can be played on even when dry). It was developed by TEAM to achieve Class One - Global Pitch rating when either WET or DRY.
It is expected that work will commence within days after Grand Final.
Aquaturf Evolution is designed using a polyethylene yarn with its own unique polymer formulation and fibrillation pattern to improve playability and increase durability whilst offering improved ball roll, friction and turf abrasion when played on in a dry state.
The contract is expected to be signed in the next week or two.
While the association has saved considerable funds thanks to our clubs and players playing and supporting our canteen by purchasing goods as well as undertaking canteen duty we will require to take a loan from a major bank - this of course will have to be repaid over time.
The work that will be undertaken is:
- The current turf will be pulled up and we will be looking at selling pieces to off-set our construction costs.
- The underlay will be torn up.
- Earthworks will be undertaken to repair sub-surface damage at the north-east corner.
- The area will be compacted and new underlay laid.
- A new surface will be added including ancillary plumbing requirements.
It is expected that, excepting weather, the works would be completed in under 10 weeks.
